From the Listing:

Utterly adorable house in the centre of a village less than 10 minutes from Castanheira de Pera.

The current owners have made the most of the available space whilst tastefully renovating this property resulting in a super cute house for a couple or someone living alone. The house would also make a good holiday home or rental investment.

On the ground floor, we find the entrance hall which has a tiled floor that offers a contemporary look to the otherwise traditional room with its original beams and bespoke wooden staircase. The shower, rustic basin, and toilet are also found on this floor as is a small utility area.

The stairs lead from here to the first floor and into the main living space. There is a wood burner which is adequate to heat the whole area. Contemporary lighting adds to the rustic theme and the owners have used the original nooks to store their books and other treasures. A desk is placed in the window space to make the best of the views toward the river whilst working from home, reading, or painting. The seating area has a settee that can be used as extra space for overnight guests and there is still room for additional chairs. The small dining table is bought in from the kitchen to entertain in here.

The kitchen itself has bespoke units and open shelving with more than adequate storage. The oven and hotplate are stowed away below the worktop to allow more preparation space when needed. The sink has been strategically placed to make the most of the views so that washing up is never a chore and there is room in the kitchen for a table and chairs for less formal dining or for hobbies.

The bedroom, with enough room for a king sized bed, is on the mezzanine above the living area and there is room for storage under the eaves. The floorboards have been left exposed up here as on the first floor.

On the ground floor, there is a storage room accessed from the lane. Outside, the property is just waiting for a coat of paint to its exterior but a contractor has already been scheduled to do the work so the new owners could move in without more work to do. The house has new double-glazed windows and a fully glazed front door to the same specification to allow as much light as possible into the ground floor. There is no garden at the house, ideal for lock up and leave, so pots are used for favorite flowers and herbs.

200m away down the lane the owners also have 3400sq m of land that is being sold separately. It has many olive trees and would be a fabulous addition if bought with the house. A wonderful place to grow food or keep animals or just to picnic and relax with a good book. It is also possible to put a wooden cabin or tiny house here or even to build with the correct documentation from the authorities.

Much love has gone into this home, and it shows. It is small but beautifully formed… A relaxing calm space that reflects the current owner’s personality perfectly.

It will make someone new a wonderful home.
